Last night, SSCAS and the Whistler Centre for Sustainability were invited by Lil’wat Nation to present burn smart tips and techniques to Mt. Currie residents, as well as information on biomass opportunities and the results of the recent inventory of woodstoves WCS and the band conducted. Workshop attendees watched videos on how to properly season wood, and got hands on experience using moisture metres and determining whether wood is dry enough to burn. Each attendee walked away with a moisture metre at the end of the workshop, along with other items like wood totes, burn smart DVD’s, stickers and “I’m a sucker for Clean Air” suckers. Delicious bannock was served as a snack- all in all a fun and informative night!
