Although the fire in Squamish has been contained, concerns over air quality linger. An air quality advisory, warning residents with underlying medical conditions to avoid strenuous exercise and stay indoors, remains in effect. The current particulate matter (PM) readings are low, but on-site representatives from Vancouver Coastal Health and the Ministry of Environment advise that firefighting activities are on-going and the potential remains for short-term impacts from fluctuating smoke emissions.

The Ministry of Environment and other protection agencies will be monitoring the area closely over the coming days and working to provide an appropriate response. For frequent updates, please visit: www.bcairquality.ca
